After slavery of many centuries, on 15th of August 1947, India got independence. We were thrilled of Britishers. All Indians got harassed from their outrage, so they decided to get a reward, so many people got pills and gave a big agitation to them finally they got independence. On this day our country got independence, so it is known as "independence day."
From outrages and their rude behavior harassed Indian people got solidarity for getting relieve from them. SubhashChandraBoss, BhagatSingh, and Chandrasekhar Azad spread conflagration of agitation and also be a martyr. Then after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Gandhi Ji, and Nehru ji fights for truth, nonviolence and without weapons and also did agitation. They all get punished and went many times to prison. So that Britishers got compulsion for living India, that's how the day 15th August 1947 is known as "golden day."
From 1947, this day we celebrate with happiness and joy. On this day all schools and government offices hoist the national flag, sings National Anthem. All martyrs and respected people are given tribute and sweets are distributed.

सदियों की गुलामी के पश्चात 15 अगस्त सन् 1947 के दिन आजाद हुआ। पहले हम अंग्रेजों के गुलाम थे। उनके बढ़ते हुए अत्याचारों से सारे भारतवासी त्रस्त हो गए और तब विद्रोह की ज्वाला भड़की और देश के अनेक वीरों ने प्राणों की बाजी लगाई, गोलियां खाईं और अंतत: आजादी पाकर ही चैन लिया। इस दिन हमारा देश आजाद हुआ, इसलिए इसे स्वतंत्रता दिवस कहते हैं।
अंग्रेजों के अत्याचारों और अमानवीय व्यवहारों से त्रस्त भारतीय जनता एकजुट हो इससे छुटकारा पाने हेतु कृतसंकल्प हो गई। सुभाषचंद्र बोस, भगतसिंह, चंद्रशेखर आजाद ने क्रांति की आग फैलाई और अपने प्राणों की आहुति दी। तत्पश्चात सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल, गांधीजी, नेहरूजी ने सत्य, अहिंसा और बिना हथियारों की लड़ाई लड़ी। सत्याग्रह आंदोलन किए, लाठियां खाईं, कई बार जेल गए और अंग्रेजों को हमारा देश छोड़कर जाने पर मजबूर कर दिया। इस तरह 15 अगस्त 1947 का दिन हमारे लिए 'स्वर्णिम दिन' बना। हम, हमारा देश स्वतंत्र हो गए।
यह दिन 1947 से आज तक हम बड़े उत्साह और प्रसन्नता के साथ मनाते चले आ रहे हैं। इस दिन सभी विद्यालयों, सरकारी कार्यालयों पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया जाता है, राष्ट्रगीत गाया जाता है और इन सभी महापुरुषों, शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी जाती है जिन्होंने स्वतंत्रता हेतु प्रयत्न किए। मिठाइयां बांटी जाती हैं।
हमारी राजधानी दिल्ली में हमारे प्रधानमंत्री लाल किले पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराते हैं। वहां यह त्योहार बड़ी धूमधाम और भव्यता के साथ मनाया जाता है। सभी शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी जाती है। प्रधानमंत्री राष्ट्र के नाम संदेश देते हैं। अनेक सभाओं और कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जाता है।
इस दिन का ऐतिहासिक महत्व है। इस दिन की याद आते ही उन शहीदों के प्रति श्रद्धा से मस्तक अपने आप ही झुक जाता है जिन्होंने स्वतंत्रता के यज्ञ में अपने प्राणों की आहुति दी। इसलिए हमारा पुनीत कर्तव्य है कि हम हमारे स्वतंत्रता की रक्षा करें। देश का नाम विश्व में रोशन हो, ऐसा कार्य करें। देश की प्रगति के साधक बनें न कि बाधक।
घूस, जमाखोरी, कालाबाजारी को देश से समाप्त करें। भारत के नागरिक होने के नाते स्वतंत्रता का न तो स्वयं दुरुपयोग करें और न दूसरों को करने दें। एकता की भावना से रहें और अलगाव, आंतरिक कलह से बचें।
हमारे लिए स्वतंत्रता दिवस का बड़ा महत्व है। हमें अच्छे कार्य करना है और देश को आगे बढ़ाना है।
